This is an excellent traditional German restaurant which, at first, looks perhaps a bit dauntingly high-end based on the neighbourhood and decor, but is quite comfortable and friendly when you go inside. All that said, the value (high) for price (moderate) is excellent, but much more importantly, the food is hearty (as are the portions), flavourful and very much traditional German cuisine. The service is quite impeccable and professional, and the overall experience, capped off with a nice schnapps, was extremely positive. It seems like there were a number of Germans who were taking English colleagues there (likely to show them traditional German fare), but I see this as neither positive nor negative - if I was expecting to be in a restaurant with nothing but Germans in order to have a 'truly ...

On the whole, quite excellent, though changing the pop radio station to something a little more subdued, sophisticated or traditional would likely have been the only improvement I could suggest - which should say a lot.
